GNFS Rescues Trapped Driver in Truck Crash, Clears Fallen Tree in Accra

The Ghana National Fire Service has carried out two separate emergency operations in Accra, rescuing an injured man trapped in a truck collision and clearing a fallen tree that blocked a major road.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service Headquarters responded to the incidents on June 25 and June 28.

In the first operation, a rescue team led by ADO I Monnie freed an injured man who was trapped after a collision between a DAF truck with registration number GT 6669-19 and a Man Diesel truck with registration number GE 3983 V.

The rescue was carried out at about 6:30 a.m. using the dashboard roll technique. The victim was handed over to the National Ambulance Service for first aid before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

The DAF truck suffered extensive damage to its front cabin and engine compartment, while the rear section of the Man Diesel truck was partially damaged. Both vehicles were later towed from the scene to restore traffic flow.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

In a separate incident at about 10:50 p.m. on June 28, firefighters responded to a fallen neem tree that had blocked the road opposite the Ridge Hospital Police Post.

The crew used a chainsaw to cut and remove the tree, allowing traffic to resume. No injuries were reported.
