The family of a 28-year-old woman suspected to have been murdered at Peace Town, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, has appealed to the police to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into her death.
The deceased, identified as Monica Mawuse Bosso, was found dead on Sunday morning on her family’s compound.
According to reports, she was discovered beneath a mango tree with a headgear around her neck, tied to a lower branch of the tree.
The circumstances surrounding her death have raised suspicions of sexual assault and murder, prompting calls for a comprehensive investigation to establish exactly what happened.
A cousin of the deceased, Esther Nyavor, expressed shock over the incident and appealed to the authorities to pursue the case diligently and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Preliminary investigations by the Central East Regional Police Command are reportedly pointing to possible rape and murder.
Crime scene experts are said to have found the deceased’s skirt and underwear torn at the scene, along with her mobile phone.
Investigators also reportedly detected signs consistent with forceful sexual penetration and collected suspected semen samples for forensic analysis as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police are also investigating a suspected fraudulent withdrawal of GH¢2,000 from the deceased’s Mobile Money account around the period the incident is believed to have occurred.
Meanwhile, opinion leaders in the community have expressed shock over the incident and called for heightened security in the area.
They are also urging the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend anyone connected to the death of Monica Mawuse Bosso and ensure that justice is served.
