Residents of Pokuase, Dome Abra, and Katapor in the Ga West Municipality have voiced concerns over the slow pace of ongoing road construction works and what they describe as inadequate drainage systems along the stretch.

According to residents, the gutters being constructed are too narrow to allow the free flow of rainwater, raising fears of possible flooding during the peak of the rainy season.

Some residents and commercial drivers who spoke to Vision 1 News reporter Piesie Kesse said the prolonged delays in completing the project are negatively affecting transportation and business activities in the area.

They noted that the poor state of the roads has created opportunities for some “Pragyia” tricycle operators to charge excessive fares, leaving many commuters with no option but to walk long distances from their homes to the Pokuase station to access vehicles to their destinations.

Residents say the stalled Pokuase–Dome Abra–Katapor road project has become a major source of frustration, with concerns mounting over the risk of flooding and worsening transport challenges.

They are therefore appealing to the contractors and relevant authorities to expedite work on the project and ensure that proper drainage systems are put in place to improve living conditions and ease transportation in the communities.

The residents stressed that completing the project on time and constructing larger gutters would help avert flooding and bring much-needed relief to commuters and businesses in the area.
