Two Dead as Torrential Rain Submerges Samreboi

19-Jun-2026  BENNEH BRIGHT  93 views

Residents of Samreboi in the Amenfi West Municipality have been left stranded following torrential rainfall that triggered severe flooding across the community.

The flooding, caused by the overflow of the Samre River, has submerged large sections of the town, forcing water into homes and displacing numerous families.

Residents say they are struggling to salvage their belongings as floodwaters continue to rise and enter residential areas.

Aerial footage from the community reveals the scale of the disaster, with several houses, roads, and farmlands completely inundated by floodwaters.

According to community members, the flooding has so far claimed two lives—a 17-year-old and a one-year, six-month-old child.

Residents describe the situation as critical and are appealing to government agencies and disaster management authorities for urgent intervention.

They are calling for evacuation support, relief items for affected families, and long-term measures to prevent future flooding in the community.

The disaster has once again highlighted the vulnerability of riverine communities to flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, with residents hoping for a swift response to alleviate their plight.
