A young woman believed to be in her 20s has been found dead, hanging from a mango tree at Kasoa Akweley Peace Town in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.

The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, October 4, 2026, after residents discovered the woman’s body hanging from the tree.

The deceased was reportedly wearing only a red T-shirt, with no shorts or trousers, when she was found.

Some residents claim they heard screams in the area around midnight but did not pay much attention to the sounds at the time.

Residents also suspect that the deceased may have been among a group of people who had travelled to the community for a one-week celebration.

Meanwhile, some residents have raised suspicions that the woman may have been sexually assaulted before her body was allegedly hanged on the tree in an attempt to make the death appear to be a suicide.

However, these claims have not been independently confirmed.

The police have since conveyed the body to the mortuary as investigations continue to establish the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading to the incident.

Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations, including forensic examinations, to determine what happened before the woman was found dead.
